What we believe

  1. God

We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, infinite in holiness, wisdom, power, and love. God created all things for His glory, sustains and sovereignly rules over all things, and providentially brings about His eternal purposes to redeem a people for Himself and restore His fallen creation.

  2. Scripture

We believe that the Bible, the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments, is the inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God. It is without error, complete, sufficient for all that God requires us to believe and do, and final in its authority. The Bible is to be believed in all that it teaches, obeyed in all that it requires, and trusted in all that it promises.

  3. Creation and Humanity

We believe God created the world good and created human beings, male and female, in His own image, to know Him, worship Him, and govern creation under His rule. Adam and Eve were made to complement each other in a one-flesh union as a reflection of the union between Jesus and His Church, the bride.

  4. The Fall

Through Adam's sin, humanity fell, becoming alienated from God, corrupted in every aspect of our being, and subject to His just wrath. Apart from God's gracious intervention, we are without hope. The supreme need of all people is reconciliation with God; the only hope is His undeserved love.

  5. The Gospel

We believe the gospel is the good news of Jesus Christ. This good news centres on the cross and resurrection: Christ has not been authentically proclaimed if His death and resurrection are not central. The gospel is biblical, theological, historical, apostolic, and intensely personal, where it is received and believed, sinners are saved.

  6. Jesus Christ

We believe that Jesus Christ, fully God and fully human, was sent by the Father to reveal God and redeem sinners. Born of the virgin Mary, He lived a sinless life and performed miraculous signs. On the cross, He acted as our representative and substitute, bearing our punishment and satisfying God's justice. By His resurrection, He defeated death and Satan. He ascended to heaven, reigns as King, intercedes as our High Priest, and will return in glory to judge the living and the dead. Salvation is found in no one else.

  7. Salvation

We believe salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. Through His death and resurrection, Jesus offers forgiveness, reconciliation, adoption, and eternal life. We are justified by faith, declared righteous through union with Christ, His righteousness counted as ours. We are regenerated by the Spirit and progressively sanctified into Christlikeness. A zeal for obedience flows from this free justification.

  8. The Holy Spirit

We believe in the Holy Spirit, sent by the Father and the Son, who glorifies Christ, convicts the world of sin, regenerates sinners, unites believers to Christ, and empowers them for godly living and mission. The Spirit assures us of our adoption as children of God, by whom we cry "Abba, Father." He leads, guides, and speaks to believers, always in accordance with Scripture. He produces fruit in the lives of believers, love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control, and distributes gifts for the building up of the Church, which are to be eagerly desired, tested by Scripture, and exercised with wisdom and love.

  9. The Kingdom of God

We believe the kingdom of God has broken into the world through Jesus' life, death, resurrection, and ascension. The kingdom is present but not yet fully realised, advancing through the Spirit's power, the proclamation of the gospel, and the obedience of God's people. We are called to live as kingdom people, seeking first His kingdom and His righteousness, trusting that all else will be added to us, bearing witness to Christ's reign in word and deed.

  10. The Church

We believe the Church is the body of Christ, composed of all united to Him by faith. The universal Church is manifest in local churches, each being a pillar of the truth. The Church is called to worship God, proclaim the gospel, make disciples, care for the poor, pursue justice, and manifest the kingdom while proclaiming and awaiting His return. We affirm the priesthood of all believers and every-member ministry, under the leadership of biblically qualified leaders.

  11. Baptism and the Lord's Supper

We believe baptism and the Lord's Supper are ordained by Christ as visible signs of the gospel. Baptism is the public declaration of a believer's faith, signifying union with Christ, and is administered to those who have personally repented and believed. The Lord's Supper nourishes believers as we remember Christ's death, examine ourselves, and look forward to His return.

  12. Mission

We believe God's mission is to reconcile all things to Himself through Christ. The Church participates by proclaiming the gospel, making disciples of all nations, planting churches, serving the poor, pursuing justice, and seeking the renewal of culture and creation, reflecting Christ under His lordship and through the power of the Spirit.

  13. The Return of Christ

We believe in the personal, glorious, and visible return of Jesus Christ. He will raise the dead, judge the nations, renew creation, and establish His kingdom in fullness. Those in Christ will enjoy eternal blessedness in the new heaven and earth. Those apart from Christ will face eternal separation, as our Lord Himself taught. God will be all in all, everything to the praise of His glorious grace.
